For Christmas I would like to see the Canton of Zurich renounces nuclear power plants. Arguments for and against as many have already been explained on the listing I can do without here. Soon ending a decade that was marked by wars, terror and violence and I am looking for a more peaceful and free future and for that will be without the Canton of Zurich on nuclear power plants.

India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea have not signed the contract just so they can promote the uncontrolled civilian and military uses of nuclear energy. The world was not following the collapse of the Soviet Union peacefully, but was divided into many groups and movements, some with only destructive views. Such groups will use nuclear weapons if they get the chance. A voluntary ban on such a huge Waffe erscheint zumindest unwahrscheinlich. Je mehr Staaten, und damit auch zunehmend Staaten mit grassierender Korruption und politischer Instabilität, die Atomkraft zivil nutzen, umso wahrscheinlicher wird ein militärischer Missbrauch und desto grösser das Risiko, dass Atomwaffen in die falschen Hände geraten. Solche kritische Staaten dürfen nie in Besitz der Atomtechnologie kommen, auch nicht für die zivile Nutzung. Völkerrechtlich und auch aus Gründen der Gerechtigkeit haben aber alle Staaten das Recht dazu.
Die einzige Möglichkeit, dies zu ändern ist freiwilliger, globaler Verzicht auf die Nutzung der Atomenergie und damit auch im Kanton Zürich.
