Exercise 4 - GIS basics of urban and regional planning - spatial data processing



In this exercise was it is our task, the Special Areas of Conservation (flora and fauna habitat areas) and the bird sanctuaries in the counties and Bernkastel-Wittlich Birkenfeld present.

The first step was to set the project properties. The name of the project was "Natura 2000", the map units meters and KBS, the Gauss-Kruger zone 2 (31 466).

Danach sollten die FFH-Gebiete markiert werden, die von beiden Landkreisen betroffen sind. Dabei geht man genau wie oben beschrieben vor, nur dass man statt VSG_RLP, den Layer FFH_RLP auswählt. Die neu entstandene Shapedatei nennt man "FFH_BIR_WIL".

Als nächstes sollten die Vogelschutzgebiete/FFH-Gebiete oder Teilgebiete innerhalb der beiden Landkreise gesucht werden. Man klickt auf "Tools", dann "Geoprocessing Tools", dann "Clip" und gibt dann unter "durchsuchen" den gewünschten Namen der Shapefile (hier FFH_BIR_WIL_clip bzw. VSG_BIR_WIL_clip) ein.

The last to the Special Protection Areas and Special Areas for Conservation in the two districts are combined. For this you click again on "Tools", then "Geoprocessing Tools" and then "Union". Then choose from the two previously created clip shape files and rename the new layer as "FFH_VSG_BIR_WIL.

Now we will add, the card of Rhineland-Palatinate TK100 and makes them transparent to about 75%.

Finally, you click both "clip files" with right click on the Properties and placed under representation "unique value" and "GEBIETSNUM on" and click Classify.
